Barking and Dagenham Renew is overseen by a board of trustees. They each have a different and unique personal or professional relationship with the Borough and are excited about the charity’s role in supporting the Borough as a vibrant, safe and positive place to live and work.

Milton McKenzie MBE
Avril McIntyre MBE is the Director of Community Resources who has had 30 years of experience in the community sector – starting as a volunteer community worker on the Gascoigne Estate and later become a leader within the voluntary sector shaping services across the borough
Jeremy Grint worked for the Borough for 26 years in Town Planning and Regeneration. Jeremy was responsible for town planning, physical and economic regeneration for the last 10 years at Barking and Dagenham Council and had a significant, positive influence on the physical environment of the Borough
Alderman Milton McKenzie MBE is a former Councillor (sixteen years across Gascoigne and Chadwell Heath wards) and Mayor of Barking and Dagenham. Milton was Chair of the GMB Union’s London Regional Race and Equal Rights Committee,
Thaira Bibi is a leading solicitor on the welfare benefits, criminal law, immigration and social security law. She is also involved with the Child Poverty Action group and with the Refugee and Migrant Workers for Essex and London.
Verity-Jane Keefe is a visual artist, working within the public realm to explore the complex relationships between people and place. Her work looks closely at the role of the artist within urban regeneration and how this can affect those living or working through it. She has worked on various commissions in Barking and Dagenham over the past eleven years.
